Supporting Our Community: Helping to make a difference

At MyDigitalNomads, we are proud to share our journey of giving back to the communities where we live and work. Although we are a fairly new business, we are committed to making a positive impact, and 2024 saw our first attempt at providing local support.

Our First Contributions in 2024

Regular Program Donation

In 2024, we proudly supported One Race for Filipino Services, a non-profit organization based in Manila. This group is committed to providing essential items like food, personal care products, and shelter necessities to underprivileged communities. Our donation included:
  • Food & Drink: Rice, canned goods, packets of coffee, packs of noodles, and water.
  • Personal Care/Sanitation/Wellness: Tissue paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, vitamins, and paracetamol.
  • Protection/Shelter: Blankets, mattresses, and pillows.

Typhoon Carina Relief Donation

Later in the year, when Typhoon Carina struck, causing widespread devastation, we recognized the urgent need for additional support. We responded with another donation to help provide immediate relief to those affected, ensuring they had access to basic necessities during a critical time.

Recent Donation Drive in Marikina City

Continuing our commitment, together with the volunteers and other donors we held a donation drive in Marikina City on Sunday, August 10th. During this event, the organization distributed around 300 donations to both adults and children, including toys, school stuff, food, clothing, and other essential items. Additionally, they provided wheelchairs and assistance to persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The warmth and hospitality of the local barangay deeply moved us. The event was marked by heartfelt performances, ranging from seniors to children, but what truly touched our hearts were the remarkable talents of the PWDs, who shared not only their skills but also their tearful, inspiring stories. We feel incredibly honored to have been part of this event and to have contributed to such a resilient and talented community.

Why We Help

Our decision to support One Race for Filipino Services is deeply rooted in our connection to the Philippines, where many of our digital nomads are based. We understand the challenges faced by local communities, particularly in times of crisis. Helping those in need is a reflection of our core values—empathy, compassion, and solidarity. It strengthens our global team’s bonds and reaffirms our commitment to making the world a better place.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow and establish ourselves further, we are committed to expanding our charitable efforts. The experiences we’ve had in 2024 have inspired us to plan ongoing contributions to various causes that align with our values. We are excited to support more initiatives and make an even more significant impact in the future.

About One Race for Filipino Services

Founding and Mission

One Race for Filipino Services was founded by Zeferino Fiel Da Silva, who moved to the Philippines from Luanda, Angola, in 2011. His philanthropic journey began during Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, which inspired him to give back to the country that had welcomed him so warmly. Fiel’s mission is to uplift others through compassion, empathy, and love—a vision that drives the organization’s ongoing efforts.

Activities and Impact

The organization is dedicated to serving underprivileged communities by providing essential items and support. Since its inception, One Race for Filipino Services has:
  • Served over 10,950 families
  • Initiated 172 programs and donation drives since March 2020
  • Engaged 64 volunteers and members from diverse backgrounds
Their efforts focus on distributing food, clothing, personal care items, and shelter necessities, especially during natural disasters like typhoons, which frequently impact the Philippines.
